It appears John Colyer slaves were rented up to about 1862 or so from the evidence of John Colyer estate accountings and diary of Charles Granade Colyer, then court appointed administrator of John Colyer sells. Also note that this settlement of Stephen is the only place found where sale proceeds of 250 acres of coal land is referenced. This does not appear in John Colyer settlements that could be found. | |
