Somerset Ky Elm Street and South Main Street Property tax map (apparently) from about 1920
This is likely related to another Charles Granade Colyer rather than son of John born 1781. Appears to show where the Colyer House apartments owned by Mrs. Charles Granade Colyer were located. Excerpt from Jan 7 1920 Somerset Journal: "One of the prettiest of the holiday parties was given by Mrs. Ben D. Smith on Tuesday afternoon at her pretty apartment at the Colyer House. Mrs. Smith entertained at cards and there were five tables playing. Attractive were the decorations and most delicious refreshments were served.

Somerset Mill newspaper ad 1922
Somerset Mill newspaper ad 1922
Status: LocatedSomerset Mill was built, owned and operated by John Carpenter Curtis and his brothers. Based on the fact as outlined in Wikipedia that the "White Lily" Brand was established in Knoxsville TN in 1883, it appears that the Somerset Mill Advertisement and branding of their flour "Lily White" was a bit of brand violation. Of course earlier "Lily White" flour existed in Grand Rapids MI in 1867

Stephen Colyer estate settlement 1865
Stephen Colyer estate settlement 1865
Evidently, young Stephen died without will intestate, court appointed admin takes 10 years to settle estate since it is largely tied up with the inheritance from father John Colyer, whose estate took 16 years to settle. It appears John Colyer slaves were rented up to about 1862 or so from the evidence of John Colyer estate accountings and diary of Charles Granade Colyer, then court appointed administrator of John Colyer sells. Also note that this settlement of Stephen is the only place found where sale proceeds of 250 acres of coal land is referenced. This does not appear in John Colyer settlements that could be found.
