• Photos		Bockee/Wheaton cemetery This is photo of the Bockee/Wheaton cemetery on NY state route 83 near Smithfield NY. This cemetery is also known as the Federal Square Burying Ground near Amenia NY. This is where according to a 1903 book by M.D. Van Alystyne (entitled Burying Grounds of Sharon Connecticut, Amenia and Northeast NY published by Walsh, Griffen & Hoystradt Amenia NY ) that Joseph Curtis father of James Curtis is buried. My 2006 inspection of the cemetery confirmed that since 1903 Joseph Curtis grave stone has been lost. The 1903 book said the stone inscription said he died in 1785 of small pox. Status: Located
  		Joseph Bell Curtis iv - grave from findagrave.com by Parks Honeywell Memorial# 27227108 2015: located north of Schenectady NY farm site of Joseph Curtis at 1556 Duanesburg-Churches Road, Co. Rd. 127, Delanson, NY 12053 passed to MacMillan, then Wilbur. Graves across pasture, down a gully, up through woods to edge of the hillside.

S. Census for this part of Schenectady County. The page numbers are those in the 200-300 range written in the upper right corner of the microfilmed page. Because the Schenectady County Public Library has microfilm for the later Heads of Families at the first census of the United States taken in the year 1790 rather than the original records, pages in that document are also included ("HOF"). Some of the original 1790 Schenectady census records suffered severe damage. (Central Library visitors may access our Ancestry subscription to see images of them.) The parts of the entries which could not be deciphered are marked with an asterisk. A few corrections have been made for obvious misspellings, but otherwise the heads of families are listed as they were written. In 1790, most of what eventually became the Town of Niskayuna was still part of what is now the Town of Watervliet in Albany County.
