		Maranda Botkin farm location estimated from deed descriptions Located beginning where current day Blaze Valley Road intersects Hwy 192 and continuing on east side of hwy 192 past current day 192 Market.
		Blaze Valley school In 1888 and 1898 Maranda Botkin sold land on current hwy 192 past current Blaze Valley Rd to the school district 64, to build the school. Evidently, it was later decided to locate the Blaze Valley school about a mile down Blaze Valley Rd next to a fresh water spring.

Documents		1886 Ruth Ky Warren Store ledger WARNING large 60 meg file: requires high speed: This ledger of the general store at what is now known as Ruth Ky was found in ceiling of old log home renovation 2012. The log house built by John Langdon in 1814, purchased by John Colyer 1842, then purchased by Andrew Warren 1865. Andrew's son, Mathew(born 1859), evidently ran store across the road from the house. The store later became in 1888 the first post office in the community at current day hwy 192 at Pitman Creek in Somerset Ky. The first post office in 1888 known as Juno....later became Ruth Ky. Many area family names in ledger: Colyer, Warren, Richardson, Meece, Botkin, Allen, Sword.

		Maranda Botkin school house transfer deed investigation trace 1888-1984 This is info on part of Botkin farm at Pitman creek that was evidently 1 acre transferred to school district for Blaze Valley School. A historic Pulaski county school book shows two different Blaze Valley School houses: one on Ruth Rd and one on Blaze Valley Rd. The Ruth road one evidently predated the Blaze Valley Rd one. I traced a current day one acre tract thinking it was the location of the Ruth Rd school, but evidently not based on deed trace.

Notes

Jack Curtis remembers his father Earl Curtis, talking about visiting his grandfather Botkins farm out in Ruth Kentucky as a boy. Earl often remembered his grandfather Botkin as a taskmaster, working him hard on the farm visits when he was a small boy say of the age of about 12 years old. Jack remembers Earl saying that one time he got so tired of working so hard on the farm upon visiting out there that he and his brothers walked all the way back into Somerset home.
