Jack and Edith eloped by driving to Huntsville TN and arriving at night, drove to the house of the local Judge, and honked the horn in his driveway until he came out and married them. Jack and Edith drove down from Somerset with another couple one evening. Married by L.M. Jeffers (Rec.Book 18, pg 73)

Unbeknownst to her sons until after Christmas 1973 that she had an expected fatal disease. She insisted her disease be secret to protect her children for normal life.

		Col Harlan Sanders, Kentucky Fried Chicken Story of Christian conversion of Col Sanders at Evangel Tabernacle church Louisville Ky with pastor Waymon Rodgers. This is where Edith Colyer Curtis beginning in about 1969 began attending weekly church services on Wed and Sunday nights. Her son, Richard, joined her beginning in 1971. Pastor Rodgers expressed heartfelt codolences to Richard from pulpit upon Edith Curtis passing in 1974. Col Sanders is buried near Edith Colyer in Cave Hill Cemetery Louisville.

Dot Curtis recalled that Edith was the most beautiful woman she had ever known. She recalled seeing Edith leave the house on South Central and what beautiful legs she had and how gracefully she carried herself. At the same time, she recalled that Edith was so un-pretentious in spite of her beauty, that made all the more appealing.

Max Lay, an nephew by marriage to Edith's sister's daughter, Edith Bradley Chestnut, recalled that his view was that the two most beautiful women to ever come from Somerset were Edith Colyer Curtis and Edith Bradley Chestnut.
