Colyer of Somerset Kentucky

This site was created by descendants of Sam and Leone' Colyer of Somerset Kentucky. Sam (1885-1972) was a school teacher, home builder and grocery proprietor. He was raised just outside Somerset Ky. in Ruth Kentucky on Pittman Creek. The photo to the left shows Sam as a young boy sitting on his father's (Charles Grenade) knee in a family photo. His oldest proved ancestor was William Colyar of Washington County TN. Although this site has ancestors of William, they have not been proved by this researcher. It is thought that the research published in the 1920's study and work called the Richard Calloway Family, is the source of all other's research showing John Collier born in 1707 as the father of William Colyar.
